BSNL & Cisco Ready to Solve Citizen Problems with 5G Using IoT, and AI

India’s largest state-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is gearing up for the 5G launch with the support of the Government, BSNL has been undergoing a series of deals and collaboration with world major telecom players, and Recently the US telecom major entered a deal with the Department if telecommunications to move forward in the direction of 5G launch by the end of the year, for this Cisco has signed an agreement with BSNL under the guidance for the department of telecommunications.

The deal will aim at establishing a center which will test use cases and help citizen problems in various fields such as education, agriculture, and healthcare using various technologies like IoT (Internet of things), surveillance and artificial intelligence.

Cisco chairman, Chuck Robbins had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build an alliance with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Planning panel of the country ‘National Institution of Transforming India (NITI Aayog). Cisco, the US major is working with governments of various countries to help in the faster development and achieve economic growth through innovation in the field of technology and communication.

Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has recently discussed and floated support from telecom majors like Ericson, Samsung, Nokia, Cisco and other service providers such as Reliance Jio and BSNL for the development and testing of the 5G use cases specific to the Indian market.

The telecom providers Nokia, Samsung, Ericson, and Cisco have been asked to partner with the department if Telecommunication and develop 5G technology trials in various sectors and parts of India.

Department of telecommunication earlier informed that they are receiving a positive response from these telecom majors in this respect. The collaboration with Cisco will provide a platform to showcase how the collaboration for 5G has helped develop e-citizen services in various sectors by making use of newer telecom technologies.

The initiative would open the telecom sectors towards the number of public sector avenues for the citizens of India, It will also provide citizens with a secured network for availing information as wells as making transactions on the secured network. The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has also formed a 5G forum which is made up of various company professional as well as people from various academia and industry.

There is a synchronization in the plans which India and Telecom major Cisco has. While India aims at building smart cities with all the digital platforms for the citizens while Cisco works on country’s digital acceleration program which aims at developing the ecosystem, innovation and talent pool of India.

Cisco has already made 25 strategic innovation centers across India which are in the growth stage. Cisco has also signed an agreement with NITI Aayog to boost connectivity and collaboration across 100 Atal innovation centers present across the country.

The solution aims to bring voice messaging, group messaging, video sharing, video meetings etc. over one platform. Cisco WebEx and Cisco spark boards will facilitate information exchange across Atal incubation centers across India. This will help entrepreneurs to go digital and connect the entrepreneurs with rest of the world.

Thus the goals of both Cisco and government are aligned and together it will help India getting at par with other developed economies.
